WHO WE ARE
Sunshine Scholarship Foundation (“SF”), named locally as Quy Hoc Bong Anh Duong, is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-profit education-oriented charity that helps disadvantaged children in Vietnam to get the most out of their education so they can build aspirations for a better future for themselves, their family and potentially generations to come. Our support starts in the early years of their learning development and continues throughout their schooling until they complete tertiary education and become competent enough to take a career path of their own.

WHAT WE DO
Giving Opportunities
SF work is to offer scholarships to students, from primary to tertiary education, who are high-achievers but have been experiencing financial hardship. It is our aim to assist them in obtaining an education and offering them a way out of poverty to build a sustainable future. We strongly believe that education is the best gift we can offer children of disadvantaged backgrounds to help them integrate into the mainstream of society. By giving a child an education, we hope to provide him or her with opportunities for a better life and to build a foundation for future generations to help themselves. It is our vision to contribute towards erasing poverty in Vietnam through education.

Our History
The SF Founders, who share a common vision and commitment, decided to start their mission from Dalat, a city in the southern highlands of Viet Nam, where they originated from. They were granted permission to operate officially by the People’s Committee of Dalat City, Lam Dong Province, on October 11th, 2004 under the municipal decision No. 1626/QD-UB. Sunshine Foundation self-administers their social and charitable running costs, makes public all its income and expenses and is subject to government inspection, in accordance to the Vietnamese Civil Law.
Getting Bigger
In the first 24 months of operation, the founders of SF used their own personal funds to provide scholarships to 165 students from 22 schools in Dalat. Following on from that success SF has received donations from several other individuals and companies to see the program expand to 177 students from 32 schools. Now, having successfully implemented its initial objectives in the above pilot location, SF wishes to expand throughout Vietnam to achieve its ultimate vision. To do so, Sunshine Foundation heartily welcomes the financial donations of local as well as overseas organizations and individuals worldwide.

Vision
Recipients of an SF scholarship are selected through a stringent and fair selection process involving both school teachers and administrators as well as local governmental education associations. Use of the scholarships funds is monitored closely to ensure it is applied only for education by each recipient. Students from poor socio-economic backgrounds, namely those from ethnic minorities and remote rural areas, have equal access to SF scholarships.
Purpose
SF scholarships are reviewed annually and students who fail to maintain their academic performance, without justified grounds for consideration, relinquish their award for the benefit of new recipients who merit them. Those who achieve good results will continue to receive scholarships until graduation. Although there is no required repayment of scholarships, recipients are encouraged to make their contribution in whatever way they can to the SF mission upon completion of their education.
SF founders understand that they can only lay the foundation for the SF long-term mission in their lifetime and will require the contribution from the next generations to carry on their goals and vision.

OUR JOINT PARTNER:
Since October 2018, to increase the likelihood of achieving their mission and amplify the reach of disadvantaged children, SF operated in collaboration with Volunteering Community Service Association ( Hoi Tinh Nguyen Chung Tay vi Cong Dong ). This is a dynamic framework of young volunteer helpers in community jobs as building playgrounds, classes for remote students; providing life skills to rural and ethnic students; building friendship and monitoring vulnerable children; improving the quality of life for the senior and disabled …The group leader, Mr Tien Danh, Nguyen, is an energetic, assertive and committed man with a clear vision and drive: Promoting responsibility, honesty and compassion among the youth to best serve the community.
